Destination Weddings - Finding a Utah Photographer

Utah is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the West. Between the rugged mountains, the gorgeous lakes (including Bear Lake), and the exquisite settings, Utah is a top spot for destination weddings.

More and more brides are going with destination weddings because it’s nice to get away, and go to a place that is different from home. It can be stressful, however, trying to plan a destination wedding. There are many details, even for smaller weddings, that need to be taken care of.

Choosing a Utah photographer is very important because you want a beautiful record of your special day. It can be difficult to pick a photographer, though, because you can’t just go meet with them. There are, however, some ways to assure that you have the best photographer for your special day.

Talk with a lot of different photographers. Have them send you samples of their work. If you are having an ourdoor wedding, ask them to send you samples of outdoor work they’ve done.

Once you’ve narrowed it down to the photographers that have excellent samples, talk to them. Do you like their personality? Does it mesh with yours? Many times, photographers can be skilled, but if their personality doesn’t mesh with yours, the photos can turn out poorly simply because you or your fiance didn’t feel comfortable.

If you have a limited budget, this can be another determining factor for choosing a wedding photographer. Don’t let this be your only determining factor though. If they’re cheap, there may be a good reason.

Ask photographers for references. Ask to talk to some of their clients to see what their opinion is. If they have good references, it is likely the photographer will be good, and will do a good job of preserving the memories of your special day.

It is possible to plan a successful and low stress destination wedding. Take your time, plan ahead, and you’ll be able to have your dream wedding.

Cool Utah Outdoor Recreation

So I’ve heard the question asked a lot, “You live in Utah? What is there to do there?”

My answer was always the same - skiing and snowboarding. Other than that, I wasn’t really sure, because I’m a California transplant, and with no beaches, I wasn’t really sure what to do! I love snowboarding, but I wanted to figure out what else there was to do in such a beautiful state.

I’ve come to find out, I’ve been missing out on a lot of really cool things! There is so much Utah outdoor recreation, it almost made me cry when I realized how long I’ve been here, and how little I’ve done.

Since I wanted to find out more about things to do in Utah, I decided to do some research, and take an impromptu vacation. It quickly became one of my favorites, simply because it reminded me of my former home, California. That place is Bear Lake. I’d heard about it, but never really knew where it was, or even what it was.

This past summer I took a trip there, and was totally blown away. The color of the lake is a tourquoise blue that is unmatched by any water except maybe the Caribbean ocean. It is stunning, and totally unexpected.

We took our boat there this summer, and enjoyed every second. The wakeboarding was fabulous, although the water can get choppy in the afternoon.

Another fun thing to do there is try out some of the raspberry milkshakes at the local stands. It’s to die for! Absolutely delicious.

We only stayed a few days, but we constantly had something to do, and we had so much fun trying to do everything!

Bear Lake is definitly one of the top desitinations in Utah - however, I’ve learned to never say that Utah is boring, because I know there are many more hidden gems here!

Utah Canyoneering - A Grand Adventure

Utah is a state that is known for its natural beauty and abundance of parks and outdoor activities. One activity I stumbled across is that of canyoneering, which just referrs to crossing canyons through many means, such as climbing, hiking, boating, and more.

Since I enjoy travelling to Utah, I decided to find out some more information in this Utah canyoneering guide, which mentions different places to go, things to do, and companies to hire to take you there.

I’ve booked a trip in September to try out my skills. I’ve done a lot of outdoor things, however, I haven’t tried canyoneering before, so I’m excited to try it out. I’ll write more after my adventure in Utah.

Salt Lake City Catering - Best in State

Salt Lake City seems to be a mecca for delicious food. It is turning into a melting pot of people from everywhere, and that seems to result in great restaurants. There are many good restaurants, and, as it turns out, catering companies as well.

As an event planner, I have had a chance to look into Salt Lake City catering companies to see which ones are good, which ones are average, and which ones are…shall we say…not worth my typing time? At any rate, there is one company that seems to stand out.

Culinary Crafts is a catering company that has won Best in State in the Tourism/Hospitality category five years in a row. I’ve heard great things about their catering, however, it’s pretty impressive that they have managed to take Best in State for that long of a time.

If you’re in town on business for a convention, hope that Culinary Crafts is catering your event. You won’t want to leave!

Swift Trucking Tourism

When you think of seeing the world, you typically think of traveling abroad by ship or plane. But there’s plenty of room to travel in our very own backyards.

My buddy from high school just got in touch with me last weekend after I got back from Thailand. It had been about 15 years since I had last spoken to him. He told me that he got a Swift trucking job as a big rig truck driver, and absolutely loves it. It got me thinking…you don’t have to go to Asia to see some amazing sights. Jim had seen more of America than I could probably ever hope to, and since he made sightseeing part of his work, he saw the good stuff too.

Sometimes I wish I could see as much of our nation’s heartland as Jim does. Maybe I’ll get an RV when I’m old.
